PERCUSSION ENSEMBLES

PERCUSSION ENSEMBLES
The Mission Hills High School percussion section holds an integral role in the overall Music Department. Percussion takes part in the marching band, indoor percussion, and concert percussion ensembles throughout the course of the full school year. It is mainly comprised of battery instruments (snare drum, bass drum, etc.), mallet instruments (marimba, xylophone, etc.), as well as many other small auxiliary instruments. In marching percussion, the section can be separated into the battery and front ensemble.
The winter percussion section in itself carries an impressive recent resume with the 2015 season yielding a bronze medal finish and the 2016 season with a gold medal (undefeated) season, both years competing in the American Drumline Association (ADLA) competitive circuit.
Students interested in joining should contact band director, Michael Tramm (michael.tramm@smusd.org).
