What is Color Guard and what is Winter Guard?
Color Guard perform along with the marching band together making up the Cardinal Alliance.
Color Guard acts as the visual component to the field show and interprets the music through choreography and the use of equipment like flags, rifles, and sabers.
Winter Guard refers to the indoor competitive season of Color Guard which take place during spring semester. There are auditions for placement, and rehearsals begin at the conclusion of marching season. Winter Guard teams perform to recorded music in gymnasiums or arenas. Shows are designed around a theme independent of the marching season theme.
Do I need to have my own equipment to join Color Guard or Winter Guard?
No! Equipment like flags, rifles, and sabers are provided by the school. You will be responsible for purchasing your dance shoes and competition shoes, color guard gloves, and other personal items as directed by your color guard director/coach.
